Tibia of male palpal with strongly projecting apophysis. Epigyne with transverse folds on entire length. Prosoma dark red-brown, black patterned. Sternum black. Legs light reddish brown. Opisthosoma dark grey.

The species is found in the wettest parts of bogs and fens, usually in areas of exposed mud and detritus without vegetation cover where it spins its web over small depressions in the mud surface. May easily be overlooked.
