Theridion pictum (Walckenaer, 1802)
Description
Male
Prosoma yellowish, with brown margin and median stripes. Prosoma 1.2-1.6 mm long. Sternum yellowish, with brown margin. Chelicerae yellow-brown. Legs reddish yellow, annulated with brown. Opisthosoma with fine white and brown spots next to dorsal longitudinal band, ventrally spotted with white, with dark points anterior to the spinnerets. Epigastric area markedly bulging.
Body length male: 2.3-3.5 mmFemale
Epigyne ± rectangular. Prosoma 1.4-1.8 mm long. Characters as in male.
Body length female: 3.5-4.8 mmAdditional information
Frequent in relatively damp terrain, in herbaceous and bush layer. Egg sac greyish brown, 3 mm in diameter, with 40 white eggs.
