Xysticus lineatus  (Westring, 1851)

Description

Male palp deeply dark brown with white intersegmental membranes. Tegulum without apophyses. Tibial apophysis bipartite, ventral apophysis furcate in 2 tips, further, lateral apophysis broad, massive and terminally broadly transversely cut, with filiform, bent process attaching dorsally. Conductor very large at the end, sickle-shaped and retrolaterally projecting. Embolus short. Epigyne with longish ± quadrangular groove, defined by broad chitinous wall anteriorly. Vulva like 2 triangles whose broad sides opposite each other. Prosoma dark brown, contrastingly cream and white, dorsally with V-shaped pattern and bright eye region in females and black-brown eye field in males. Sternum cream to white and dark brown near coxae, roundish broad, straight anteriorly, hardly spined. Chelicerae dark brown and beige-brown pattern. Legs female: robust, thick and very dark. Male: slender, contrastingly coloured light and dark. Femur I prolaterally only white spotted in distal region. Tarsus and metatarsus strikingly light brown. Opisthosoma dark black-brown with white margin, median with cross-shaped bright area. Spinnerets female: dirty beige, male: brown.
