This subspecies was described by Simon from France (Pyrenees, Alps) and differs in minor size and colouration. It is possibly only a variant of O. obscurus.

Distribution comment: Simon (1929: 732) mentions also England, Sweden, Germany, Hungary, but it is not listed in the checklists of these countries, resp. accepted as separate taxon.
