Lycosa tarantula  (Linnaeus, 1758)

Beschreibung
Männchen

Grundfarbe weiss-grau, Prosoma dorsal 2 braune Längsstreifen mit mittlerem hellen Längsband und 2 lateralen Streifen, oft undeutlich, Kopf frontal und Pedipalpen oft rötlich, Beine dorsal graubraun, Opisthosoma dorsal mit einem braunen Längsfleck, zu zwei Dreiecken ausgezogen, dahinter dunkle Winkelflecken, hell abgesetzt. Sternum schwarz, Beine ventral schwarz-weiss gestreift, Opisthosoma ventral mit einer breiten schwarzen Querbinde, vorne und hinten leuchtend gelb oder orange abgesetzt (Warnfärbung).

Weibchen

Weibchen ähnlich gezeichnet wie Männchen, jedoch Grundfarbe gelbbraun.

Zusätzliche Informationen

Lebt an trockenen und steinigen Stellen bei lückiger Vegetation in 2 cm breiten Erdröhren, bis 30 cm tief, innen mit Seide ausgekleidet, im Bereich der Öffnung sind Pflanzenteile miteinander versponnen, so dass ich ein Kragen bildet. Meist nachtaktiv.

Recht scheue Spinne. Berichte über ihre Aggressivität und ihr gefährliches Gift werden heute eindeutig als mittelalterliche Mythen eingestuft.

Verbreitung Kommentar: Kommt in Südfrankreich vor (Planas et al. 2013), aber spanische Nachweise sind fehlbestimmte L. hispanica (J. Carrillo pers. comm.).
