Bassaniodes robustus (Hahn, 1832)
Description
Male
Male palp black-brown, knob-shaped, sclerotised structure originating centrally on bulbus. Tibial apophysis tripartite, one ventral, that is slender and apically bent hook-like, one intermediate, that is broad and massive in ventral view and slightly tapering toward the tip, retrolateral apophysis with distinct tip. Prosoma unicoloured red-brown, with slightly brighter, median area (median longitudinal line in females), partly with white or cream-yellow spots on inner side of eye protrusion of anterior median eyes. Females with dark and/or bright spots. Sternum black-brown. Chelicerae spined frontally. Legs with velvety surface, black-brown with dark red to wine-red tinge, brighter on tibia, dorsally darker than on other sides. Legs partly with white longitudinal line or bright spots. Opisthosoma unicoloured black-brown to slightly reddish dark brown with small yellow and black spots, with 5 sigilla.

Epigyne striking, dark and strongly sclerotised, embedded in bulges and folds. Vulva with narrow, bent entrance duct.
