Tegenaria ferruginea  (Panzer, 1804)

Description

Prosoma yellow-brown, sometimes slightly reddish, with 3 slender dark stripes and dark spots. Sternum brown, with brighter median stripe and bright spots. Legs yellowish, with darker spots. Femur dark brown. Opisthosoma dark brown with black stripes and spots, dorsally with broad, light reddish brown median band and whitish spots.

Body length male: 9-12 mm
Body length female: 11-15 mm
Additional information

Under stones and bark, also in basements.

This species can bite humans, usually when they try to catch or remove it with their hands. The bite is not very painful and an occasional moderate local swelling disappears within a few hours.
