Ostearius melanopygius  (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1880)

Beschreibung

Tibialapophyse groß, zweiteilig. Embolus massig. Epigyne mit 2 sklerotisierten Spangen. Prosoma braun, mit schwarzem Rand und Radiärstreifen. Sternum gelbbraun, schwarz übertönt, mit dunklem Rand. Cheliceren gelbbraun, schwärzlich verdunkelt, kräftig. Männchen: mit zahnartigem Auswuchs. Beine gelbbraun, relativ lang. Opisthosoma auffallend orange, rot oder gelb (einfarbig dunkle Tiere selten). Breiter, schwarzer Ring um Spinnwarzen.

Zusätzliche Informationen

Stellenweise häufig auf Schuttplätzen, Komposthaufen und in Gärtnereien, nicht im Gebirge. Über Haufen verrottender Pflanzenabfälle wurden aggregative Gespinste bis 10 m Länge gefunden, die dann tausende Spinnen umfassten. In Europa erster Nachweis 1906 in England, seitdem weitere Ausbreitung nach Osten (Růžička 1995). Diese Art ist nicht-einheimisch für Europa, ihr Ursprungsgebiet ist Südamerika. Sie wurde mindestens einmal nach Europa eingeschleppt und hat sich etabliert.
